New beginnings can lead to an over-functioning mind and one can lose perspective over what is important and what is reasonable to expect.
A colleague once reminisced that she was ever stressing about her wardrobe that first year as Principal. Another shared how she was focused on maintaining a “pleasant” face, literally, for at least the first term. First year principals often come to meetings looking tired and stressed. Venting readily occurs at leadership gatherings.
One of the most important lessons Our Lord has taught me via my career, is that when I am “doing” more, He is doing less. As old as is the cliché “let go and let God”, it still has merit.
Today’s goal: Check to see if there is something in my life that is taking up too much of my energy. Can I trust God’s plan enough to share at least some of the work-at-hand to Our Lord and His Mother?
